Research Residency

“Each partner will develop one of these residencies during the project period...”

The purpose of this residency is to undertake research into the heritage and current uses of local eco-cultural productions and to generate an idea on how to transform this knowledge into a work that rethinks land and resource management to support the creation of new economic forms.

Each partner will develop one of these residencies during the project period. Campo Adentro will host one pre-selected resident artist for four weeks in its art and ecology centre in Asturias who will be investigating topics including the underuse of local wild berries and the currently abandoned eucalyptus forest, which was planted in the 1960s. Grizdale Arts will bring together a group of makers (including designers, architects and practical craftspeople) from across the CoV network together in the Crake Valley. They will undertake a week long intensive consultancy and design phase ahead of the Build School during which two new Honest Shops will be constructed at convienient locations within the Crake Valley. In Casa delle Agriculture, the artist will closely work with Vivaio dell’Inclusione (Nursery garden of social inclusion), an in progress/on-going project that offers the possibility to rescue, reproduce and sell ancient vegetables varieties. KF Huset will invite an international artist to participate in a one-month residence in the village of Klöse and surrounding communities. The artist will be introduced to local artists and organizations engaged with the River Lögdeälven that runs through Klöse. Through community workshops they will examine the river to explore questions around agriculture, ecology, land and territory to investigate rural identity and the notion of periphery from a new position. In the case of Another Art, they will bring together three artist/practitioners of the ConV versed in permaculture, agro-ecology and/or ecological architecture to draw upon the knowledge and expertise as well as local interlocutors (advising them on traditions, capacities and materials) to imagine and plan together what will be the future centre for Another Art’s activities.
