Craftspeople Exchange – Casa delle Agriculture

June 2021
#CasadelleAgriculture
“Craftspeople and locals from all walks of life came together in June 2021 to explore the applications of seeds.”

Craftspeople from various backgrounds came together in July 2021 for a transformative 5-day exchange at Casa delle Agriculture in Castiglione d’Otranto. The diverse group of 15 participants included artists, journalists, farmers, millers, veterinarians, social workers, local scholars, designers, artisans, newcomers, refugees, and more. This exchange aimed to foster collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and cultural exchange among craftspeople from Casa delle Agriculture, local communities, and the Confederacy.

This exchange focused primarily on the design and creation of seed packaging, sachets and pots. Through workshops and practice laboratory experiences, our diverse group of participants received knowledge of different vernacular cultures and the ways they relate to seed and its derivatives, developing a unique understanding of the various ways people work with these materials.

A particularly notable aspect of the exchange was the communal meal event, which not only fostered a sense of connection and camaraderie among the participants but also served as a means of local project dissemination. This shared experience provided an opportunity for the wider community to engage with the project and learn about the craftspeople exchange happening in their midst.
